After living in California for seven months, I made it to my first vineyard and wine tasting. Ridge Vineyards is over 100 years old and is located at the top of a mountain ridge in the Santa Cruz mountains.
The winery offers $5 ,$10, and $20 wine tastings for a sample of 4-5 wines, pending which option you choose to taste. The winery is known for its zinfandels, so that’s the tasting we opted for. We thoroughly enjoyed both the tasting and the view. It’s a great place to take a picnic, with picnic tables and a small vista point that is great for a picnic blanket.
For safety, you can’t wander around the vineyards, but you can see many of the grape vines. And it’s rumored that from the vista point you can see all the way to the East Bay and sometimes even the San Francisco skyline on a clear day. Check off one visit to a nearby winery. Only, what 7,563,254 to go, right?
